Spider Plants
Spider plants (Chlorophytum comosum) are fun, funky shaped plants that are fairly easy to care for. Give them well draining soil, infrequent waterings, and bright indirect light, and they’ll be a happy plant!
Mature spider plants will send off runners, that then produce tiny baby spider plants. It’s pretty adorable if you ask me. Those baby plants can be removed to create brand new plants.
You’ll need
- Scissors
- Glass of room temp. water
Propagate Spider Plants
- Locate the baby spider plant and cut the plant off at the runner.
- Place the base of the plant in the glass of water.
- Be sure to keep the water level over the base as the roots continue to grow.
- When roots are 2″-4″ long, you can transfer your cuttings to soil.
You can also propagate a Spider plant by dividing a plant at the roots. Take the plant out of the pot, and gently pull the roots apart. It’s easy to make a few different plant this way.
