This DIY~Monogram Leather Keychain is a perfect gift idea for anyone on your list. And what better way to personalize it then with their very own initials?!
Hey all!! Thank you so much for visiting today. I don’t know about you guys but I have a handful of people on my holiday gift giving list who are impossible to shop for. Every year it gets harder and harder to think of something. So I thought to myself…what is one gift I could make for everyone from my dad to the neighbor across the street? Then it came to me! Everyone uses keys therefor, everyone needs a cool keychain. Right?!
I went with leather. I understand that not everyone is keen on leather, and that’s okay. There are vegan leather and leather alternatives you can use. *SIDE STORY * My Grandfather was a book binder for many many years and he worked with leather every day. I worked at the shop one summer and doing this project brought back a lot of memories.
Now, these are super cute on their own but even more personal with a monogram. I got a metal stamping kit online or you can find them at most craft stores. I did a “men’s” version and a “woman’s” version. It really doesn’t matter but one is thicker and shorter and the other is thinner and longer.

You’ll need:
-Keychain template (provided below)
-Leather (I used this leather strip and got about 20 keychains out of the one piece.)
-Leather hole punch (this one is priced really well and has great reviews)
–Razor knife (sharp!)
–Metal key rings (I used split key rings 32mm aprox. 1″ diameter)
- Take your leather and cut the strips using the razor knife against the metal ruler, according to the template.
- Measure the distance according to the template and punch the holes.
- Now, loop the key ring through the leather and line up the holes.
- Secure holes with rivets
- Monogram if you desire
That’s it! Now make your gift list and don’t forget to make one for yourself! Thanks for stopping by today. If you want to see what’s new with Clever Bloom, follow me on Instagram. Also, PIN the photo below to your favorite DIY Board on Pinterest for easy access to this tutorial. Have a nice day!
