DIY Stackable Clay Plates are a fun and easy way to display air plants around your home. Stack them up at different heights to create a colorful modern look.<\/em><\/p>\n

These DIY Stackable Clay Plates are so easy to make. You’ll also find this project to be quite therapeutic. We did this project in week two of our #stayhome efforts during the coronavirus pandemic. We weren’t leaving the house so we needed to find ways to keep our sanity inside the house. <\/p>\n

My original plan was to make small bowls for my air plants. You can still make bowls with this same process, but I ended up making a small plate and really liked the way they stacked. The fun part is mixing different colors and stacking them together to make varied sizes to use as displays. <\/p>\n

I was able to get everything I needed through an amazon order. I’ll link the products below. There’s no right or wrong way to do this project. As you work with the clay, you may find a way that works better for you.<\/p>\n

Supplies<\/h3>\n

-Air Plants (Here’s a good source on Amazon<\/a>)<\/p>\n

-Polyform Clay (I used this-Polyform Premo Clay Sampler Pack<\/a>)<\/p>\n

-Oven<\/p>\n

-Parchment paper or Tin foil<\/p>\n

How to make clay plates<\/h3>\n

  1. Break off a piece of clay (I used half of a block of clay per plate) and roll into a ball with your palms.<\/li>\n
  2. Press your thumb in the middle of the ball and begin to pinch the sides to flatten.<\/li>\n
  3. Pinch around the sides to create a lip.<\/li>\n
  4. Place the plates on a baking tray with foil or parchment paper.<\/li>\n
  5. Bake according to directions and let cool before touching.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I love the idea of stacking the plates together but you can also use them separately. I have air plants on most of mine but I’m also using one as a ring dish, and another one I’m using as a votive plate.<\/p>\n
