was clearly thirsty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1839 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cleverbloom.com\/staging\/4549\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/JORD-5.jpg\" alt=\"Houseplant Watering Tips - Clever Bloom\" width=\"402\" height=\"514\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I placed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woodwatches.com\/series\/frankie-35\/zebrawood-and-champagne\/#cleverbloom\" target=\"_blank\">this watch<\/a> here to show you the amount of time it took for this plant to perk up after watering.\u00a0 The first photo is 9:oo am.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1838 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cleverbloom.com\/staging\/4549\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/JORD-4.jpg\" alt=\"Houseplant Watering Tips - Clever Bloom\" width=\"397\" height=\"523\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">By 3:00 pm the plant had completely perked up!\u00a0 I love timing my plants to see how long it takes.\u00a0 Some will perk up within minutes and some take hours.\u00a0 It helps that I have this gorgeous watch to keep time on.\u00a0 <em>If you are wondering about this gorgeous watch keep reading to the very end!<\/em>\u00a0 It&#8217;s important to dump your overflow tray of excess water once the draining is complete.\u00a0 Do not leave any standing water.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Please Do Not over water your plants.\u00a0 Plants will often die from side effects of over watering.\u00a0 With most of my plants I let the soil completely dry before watering again.\u00a0 This will not work for all houseplants but once you get to know your plant, you can make that decision.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>WATER<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I have a few special plants that I buy bottled water for.\u00a0 Please don&#8217;t tell my husband!\u00a0 It&#8217;s just that they have stomata (pores) that will get clogged with mineral deposits if I use tap water.\u00a0 I also noticed that my spider plant doesn&#8217;t get brown tips when I used bottled water.\u00a0 It&#8217;s expensive so you can&#8217;t do it if you have a lot of plants but I find it to work really well!<\/li>\n<li>Rainwater is also good for plants, after all, that&#8217;s how they get their water in their natural habitats.\u00a0 You can collect it in jars or tubs.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not always available but a great choice if you can!<\/li>\n<li>Tap water works fine as long as it&#8217;s not too hard.\u00a0 You also don&#8217;t want to use softened water as it has too much salt.\u00a0 In general tap water should be fine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>WATERING<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I make sure all of my plants have drainage.\u00a0 If you have a pot with no drainage <a href=\"https:\/\/cleverbloom.com\/staging\/4549\/drill-drainage-holes\/\" target=\"_blank\">check out this blog post<\/a>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s important for the water to be able to drain properly.\u00a0 If the roots sit in soggy soil, they can rot or suffocate.<\/li>\n<li>Poke a few holes in your soil to aerate.\u00a0 This allows the soil to absorb the water easier.<\/li>\n<li>Slowly poor the water into the soil until it starts to drain out the bottom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I hope I was able to help you with some of your watering questions today.\u00a0 Leave a comment if you have any other questions!<\/p>\n<p>Before you go, were you wondering about that watch earlier in the post?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1837 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cleverbloom.com\/staging\/4549\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/JORD-3.jpg\" alt=\"Houseplant Watering Tips - Clever Bloom\" width=\"408\" height=\"611\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0Yes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woodwatches.com\/series\/frankie-35\/zebrawood-and-champagne\/#cleverbloom\" target=\"_blank\">this one<\/a>!\u00a0 I received this watch from JORD and I am giddy over it!\u00a0 It&#8217;s so beautiful with it&#8217;s zebrawood band and champagne face.\u00a0 It&#8217;s perfect in it&#8217;s bed of zebra like lipstick plant, right?!
