Hi!\u00a0 Thanks for visiting today.\u00a0 I don’t know exactly why I needed a decorative display ladder in my life, but I did.\u00a0 Every time I look through Pintrest, Anthropologie, or anywhere really, they’re always displaying beautiful decor on them.\u00a0 They just seem so simple and creative.\u00a0 You can switch up your decor frequently without having to put nail holes in the wall.\u00a0 You can move them around the house and use them in corners (I hate trying to fill corners).<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

LADDER<\/em><\/p>\n

You’ll need:<\/em><\/p>\n

-(2) 2×2’s (as straight at possible – always sight down the boards when you pick them out!)<\/p>\n

-3″ screws<\/p>\n

-Drill (Phillips screw bit and Drill bit the size of the screw, without the threads)<\/p>\n

-Saw (Chop saw, if possible)<\/p>\n

-Measuring Tape<\/p>\n

\"DIY<\/a><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \u00a0Lay out the 2×2’s (which should be 8′-0″ long).\u00a0 Measure and mark a 5′-0″ and two 1′-6″ lengths out of each.<\/li>\n
  2. Cut the wood.\u00a0 The exact length doesn’t really matter, but the (4) 1′-6″ lengths (the rungs) need t0 all be exactly the same.<\/li>\n
  3. On the 5′-0″ pieces (the sides), use a measuring tape to mark a small circle at each foot mark.\u00a0 1′, 2′, 3′, and 4′.\u00a0 This is where you will drill the pilot holes for the rungs to attach.<\/li>\n
  4. Lay them out in the general ladder shape.<\/li>\n
  5. If possible, try to do this on a workbench or table, to keep everything square and flat.<\/li>\n
  6. Hold or clamp a rung to a side, and drill a pilot hole through the side, and into the rung.\u00a0 Repeat for all 4.<\/li>\n
  7. You may now have to balance it against the ground to put the screws in.\u00a0 If you’re having trouble, coat the threads of the screw a drop of dish soap.\u00a0 This will also keep the rungs from splitting.<\/li>\n
  8. Do the other side the same way!<\/li>\n
  9. Get the screws in as tight as possible or the rungs will spin.<\/li>\n
  10. Don’t climb.\u00a0 This is for display only!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    PAINT<\/em><\/p>\n

    This is a super chippy antique look.\u00a0 I love it and I think it turned out great!<\/p>\n

    You’ll need:<\/em><\/p>\n

    -Wood stain (I used a dark mahogany)<\/p>\n

    -Old towel<\/p>\n

    -Paint (I used Behr Ultra-Vintage Linen)<\/p>\n

    -Paint brush<\/p>\n

    -Vaseline<\/p>\n

    -Paper towels<\/p>\n

    -Sand paper<\/p>\n

    \"DIY<\/a><\/p>\n

    \"DIY<\/a><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. \u00a0Stain the ladder.\u00a0 It doesn’t have to be perfect.\u00a0 You only need it where you want the color to pop through the paint.\u00a0 Let dry.<\/li>\n
    2. Apply Vaseline only to the areas you want the stain to show through.\u00a0 Where you want the chippy look.\u00a0 You don’t need too much.\u00a0 A good tip is to apply it where wear would occur naturally.\u00a0 On the edges, on knots, etc.<\/li>\n
    3. Apply your first coat of paint.\u00a0 Let dry and apply second coat.\u00a0 Let second coat dry.<\/li>\n
    4. Now lightly sand the spots where you applied Vaseline.\u00a0 You will see the paint will come off very easily.\u00a0 Continue to sand the ladder until you’re happy with the look.\u00a0 Be careful not to sand down to the original wood.<\/li>\n
    5. Wipe the ladder clean and you’re done!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Mine is currently displaying my Halloween wreath.\u00a0 I’m really loving this look.\u00a0 I can’t wait for Christmas…oh the possibilities!<\/p>\n
