Do you have an empty space on your wall that needs to be filled?\u00a0 This DIY Yarn Wall Hanging is perfect!\u00a0 It’s simple, inexpensive and very customizable.\u00a0 You won’t believe how easy it is and it takes no time at all!<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Do<\/p>\n

My friend Mary told me she needed to hang the lamp that was once standing in her house from the ceiling now because her one year old twin boys (how crazy would that be?!) kept knocking it over.\u00a0 She showed me a picture from Pinterest of a hanging lamp and the cord was covered in a macrame weave.\u00a0 She wanted to know if I liked the idea.\u00a0 I believe her exact words were “okay, so am I crazy to think this is cute?\u00a0 I can’t tell if this is cute bordering on funky, or just weird. feel free to judge me… I trust your judgement. Lol!”\u00a0 Haha!!\u00a0 Well, I did like it!\u00a0 I agreed with her though, it could be borderline weird but honestly, I started looking around my house to see what cords I<\/strong> could wrap in a macrame weave!\u00a0 As I got deeper and deeper into the world of macrame on Pinterest I started seeing these funky retro macrame wall hangings.\u00a0 Everywhere I looked there were these super intricate woven wall hangings that I was just falling in love with.\u00a0 Bobby McGee<\/em> started playing in my head and all of a sudden I was imagining myself running through a field of tall grass in my Birkenstocks.\u00a0 It’s true!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I have to learn how to weave!\u00a0 I know I can do it but it’ll take time and I had to have a wall hanging now<\/strong>!\u00a0 I saw some other wall hangings that looked pretty easy from Etsy listings so I decided to tackle it!<\/p>\n

We’ve had this stick lying around our house for over a year now.\u00a0 My oldest boy picked it up in the forest during his Two Year photo shoot.\u00a0 Isn’t he just the cutest?!\u00a0 He held onto that stick the whole time and we just couldn’t get rid of it.\u00a0 So, I chose this stick because it’s special to us but you can use any stick.<\/p>\n

You’ll need:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Do<\/p>\n

-A stick, wooden dowel or something similar.<\/p>\n

-Scissors<\/p>\n

-Yarn (Any kind) I used a basic black.<\/p>\n

-Twine or Jute for hanging (optional you can also just use the yarn).<\/p>\n

Let’s get started!<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \u00a0Cut and group pieces of yarn together.\u00a0 I did 8 pieces that were 24″ long.<\/li>\n
  2. Make a U shape with the group of yarn and loop onto the stick (see photos).<\/li>\n
  3. Tighten your loop.<\/li>\n
  4. Continue to add groups of yarn all the way down the stick until desired look.<\/li>\n
  5. Next, tie the twine onto your stick and hang it from a doorknob or thumbtack.<\/li>\n
  6. It will be tangled so use a comb to comb it as straight as possible.<\/li>\n
  7. Cut your desired shape out of paper and tape it to the wall hanging.\u00a0 Use as a guide while cutting.\u00a0 (You don’t have to do this but it’s sort of like a haircut, if you mess up, you just keep going shorter and shorter :)).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    That’s it!\u00a0 Wasn’t that easy?\u00a0 There are lots of different shapes or styles you can cut your hanging into.\u00a0 Here are a few examples.<\/p>\n
