Dye eggs the natural way by using fruits or vegetables.\u00a0 Today I’m teaching you how to make blueberry dyed eggs.\u00a0 They’re beautiful with their subtle color and natural occurring designs!\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"BlueberryFor those of you who know me well, you know I hate making dinner.\u00a0 I don’t know why it’s such a big deal but after a long day with the kids, it’s the last thing I want to do.\u00a0 I feel bad for my husband though because I make the same stuff all the time.\u00a0 It was time for me to try a new dish!\u00a0 For this dish, I had to cut up potatoes and try to squeeze out as much water as I could.\u00a0 I used this white flour sack towel and after doing the squeezing, the towel had a giant brown stain on it.\u00a0 It wouldn’t come out in the wash at all!\u00a0 I remember thinking, it was too bad it wasn’t a prettier color like blue or purple.\u00a0 It might have looked like tie-dye.\u00a0 So, this year when I decided to try different ways of dying eggs, I remembered the potato stain.\u00a0 Ha!\u00a0\u00a0But this\u00a0time I was going to try something with a prettier color.\u00a0 I decided to use blueberries and the eggs are beautiful!\u00a0 Stick around and learn how to make these Blueberry Dyed Eggs.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

You’ll need:<\/strong><\/p>\n

-Hard Boiled Eggs<\/p>\n

-2 cups of water<\/p>\n

-1 1\/4\u00a0cup of Blueberries ( I used frozen)<\/p>\n

-1\u00a0tsp salt<\/p>\n

-1 tbsp. white vinegar<\/p>\n

-Towel (it will get stained)<\/p>\n

-Strainer or cheese cloth<\/p>\n

-Bowl or cup to dip eggs<\/p>\n

-Spoon for grabbing eggs<\/p>\n

Let’s get started!<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \u00a0In a small saucepan place your blueberries, water, and salt.\u00a0 Bring to a boil.\u00a0 Boil for aprox. 10 min.<\/li>\n
  2. Strain the berries and keep the liquid.\u00a0 Let cool.<\/li>\n
  3. Once the liquid has cooled add the vinegar.<\/li>\n
  4. Poor liquid into a bowl or cup.\u00a0 It needs to be big enough for an egg to fit but not too big where the fluid won’t cover. (I made that mistake)<\/li>\n
  5. Place your egg into liquid and leave for desired time.\u00a0 I did them between 5-20 min.<\/li>\n
  6. Pull egg out with spoon and gently place in towel.\u00a0(You’ll see I used a paper towel.\u00a0 Don’t use one unless you have to, it will leave paper towel impressions on the egg a bit)\u00a0Dab it dry.\u00a0 Don’t wipe it dry!<\/li>\n
  7. Let the dyed eggs sit for about an hour before handling them too much.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    That’s it!\u00a0 Each one of my eggs did different things.\u00a0 That was\u00a0the best\u00a0part of doing blueberry dyed eggs.\u00a0\u00a0I left the darkest one in\u00a0for about 20 minutes.\u00a0 At some point, once it was dried, the egg started sweating and it made these almost turquoise colored speckles.\u00a0 It was so cool!\u00a0 The ones that were left in for 5 minutes just made this super pretty powder blue color.<\/p>\n

    On my Pinterest Easter Inspiration Board<\/a> I pinned an article from Better Homes and Gardens.\u00a0 It’s All-Natural Easter Egg Dye Recipes<\/a>.\u00a0 They have other color options that are also beautiful.\u00a0 I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t really have any other fruits or vegetables laying around that were dye worthy.\u00a0 I don’t think banana or cauliflower eggs would have turned out as well.\u00a0 Ha!<\/p>\n

    \"BlueberryHow sweet is this little hand?!\u00a0 Big O was so excited to get his hands on these eggs.\u00a0 He kept saying “It’s time for egging mommy?”\u00a0 Haha!\u00a0 Little does he know that “egging” will mean something totally different when he’s in hi school.\u00a0 My poor parents had to scrape eggs off the garage door a few times.\u00a0 But don’t worry, I got those eggers\u00a0back!<\/p>\n
