Learn how to make Dip Dyed Stationary using Rit Dye.\u00a0 These cards are beautiful and because they’re hand dipped, each one is unique.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Learn<\/p>\n

Let’s start from the beginning.\u00a0 I’ll try to make it quick.\u00a0 I prepped all week to dip dye my curtains in the living room.\u00a0 They were beige and the walls are too, so they desperately needed color.\u00a0 I researched all week and got all the supplies I needed.\u00a0 I woke up Saturday morning SO EXCITED!\u00a0 The day was finally here for me\u00a0to dye my curtains.\u00a0 Tim took Big O to play for the morning and when I put Little O down for a nap, it was GO TIME!\u00a0 I did the whole process and things were looking good.\u00a0 It was not a glamorous DIY project because I was outside and it was muddy and there was lots of water involved and it was just a mess!\u00a0 I was rinsing out the curtains and it was taking FOREVER!\u00a0 So when my ADD kicked in I just threw them in the washer to finish them up.\u00a0 Well, that was stupid of me because the not fully rinsed curtains bled everywhere and the\u00a0parts that\u00a0I still wanted beige were now splotchy green.\u00a0 I was so annoyed!\u00a0 We put them up just to see if they looked okay and Tim said “it’s okay, we can buy more tomorrow”.\u00a0 That meant they were NOT going to be staying up!\u00a0 I was so bummed!\u00a0 But now I had all my dye supplies out so I had to do something.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I had watercolor paper that I was going to make other stationary with but now decided to Dip Dye instead.\u00a0\u00a0They turned out so beautiful!\u00a0 You need to make them!<\/p>\n

\"Learn<\/p>\n

You’ll need:<\/strong><\/p>\n

-Watercolor paper (You might be able to use something else but I don’t suggest it,\u00a0watercolor paper\u00a0holds water better)<\/p>\n

-Rit Dye (I mixed Dark Green and Evening Blue)<\/p>\n

-Kraft knife or paper cutter (if your paper isn’t the size you want)<\/p>\n

-Warm water (aprox. 2 -3cups)<\/p>\n

-Tupperware (for mixing dye-needs to be big enough for your paper to dip)<\/p>\n

-Paper towels<\/p>\n

-Drying rack<\/p>\n

Let’s get started:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \u00a0Prepare your dye.\u00a0 Read the directions on the bottle!\u00a0 I did 1 capful of the blue and 2 capfuls of the green with about 2 cups of warm water.<\/li>\n
  2. Get your dry rack ready and have paper towels handy.<\/li>\n
  3. Take one piece of stationary and do one quick dip (in and out).<\/li>\n
  4. To create the gradient look, you want to pull out the card just a little and hold it there for about 3-5 minutes. (see photo)<\/li>\n
  5. Pull out the stationary and dab it on a paper towel to soak up the excess dye.<\/li>\n
  6. Lay on rack to dry.<\/li>\n
  7. Once they were dry (about an hour) I dipped them again just a little on the bottom to get one more dark line.<\/li>\n
  8. Let dry and you’re done!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \"Learn\"LearnAnd that’s that!\u00a0 I think this stationary is beautiful!\u00a0 It reminds me of the ocean.\u00a0 I imagine that other colors would be just as beautiful too.\u00a0 I’m going to use these for thank you or hello notes.\u00a0 You could also use this technique on business cards, gift tags,\u00a0or wedding invitations…the possibilities are endless!<\/p>\n
